1/31

6.5 easy, about 25 seconds faster than the easy pace I've been using, which was appropriate for marathon training but I think I can pick it up for half training.

January miles: 171.2...if I can keep it over 168/month I'll hit 2017 this year, which would be cool.

  1. Your mileage always blows my mind. I can never go more than 4 miles on a treadmill, and I mostly dread it. I need your mental strength and will. I tried to replicate some of your speed work and that at least helped break up the monotony! My endurance and pace have suffered greatly in the past two months (not impressive to begin with)...darn winter and minimal daylight after work.
My brother in law mentioned "running the year"--it seems very within your reach!!! :)

  2. Susie, there's no way I would make it on the treadmill without Netflix!!! It's definitely harder for me than running outside, which makes those outside runs such a treat and always helps on race day since I've gutted out so many miserable miles on the treadmill. ;-)

Speedwork definitely helps break up the monotony--I really like doing intervals and I ALWAYS run intervals for every single TM run! I can't handle it otherwise. When I'm doing speedwork I'll do something like base speed for 2 minutes, +2.2 mph for 3 minutes, but for regular runs I will do base speed for 2 minutes, +.1 for one minute, base speed for 2 minutes, +.1 for one minute, base speed for two minutes, +.1 for one minute, +.2 for one minute. That gets me a ten-minute block and then I start again...but it really helps me mentally!!
