1/30

Thursday: Mixed feelings about today's run. Pros: first legit back-to-back run (did one  last week, but there were some walk breaks mixed in) and faster than yesterday. Cons: still pretty slow, felt like I was working harder than I actually was, and had some front shin pain. MRI tomorrow and results Tuesday! 4 miles in 41:18; ran a mile warm-up (11/mile) and then alternated between two-minute intervals of 10:42 and 9:48.

Friday: rest day. Up at 6:30 for MRI, home at 8 to get kids off to school, Isaac's classroom for the morning, pick up Luke, took a quick nap before getting older kids, then off to the temple and home at 10:30, then talked to my parents and then did grading until 1 am.

Saturday: 4 miles (same warmup and intervals) and 20 minutes yoga. MRI yesterday so looking forward to getting those results Tuesday! Pretty darn tired and dizzy today--been pretty sleep deprived this week so hoping to catch up tonight and tomorrow.

1/27

4 miles in 41:30. Felt pretty lousy when I started (first mile was about 11:30) and terrific when I finished (last mile was 9:30). Avg 10:22/mile.

20 minutes recovery yoga to cool down. This made a huge difference Monday in my leg not aching that night, so I'm hoping it does the trick again today!

1/25

4 miles; started slow and built up. First 2 miles were in 22 minutes, second 2 were in 20:49. Still running a low-grade fever, but much better than yesterday, and feeling doubly better after a run! A little shin tenderness afterwards.

4 minutes walking and 20 minutes yoga to cool down, then arm weights to finish.

1/23 and rest of week

1/20: First no-stop run today! 3 miles in 32:43, then walked half a mile to cool down. Walked 2 miles last night a few hours after the 14 bike. Leg was kind of achy this morning but totally fine after the run. I think this means my body is a little too good at producing endorphins. Can't wait for that MRI so I can have some peace of mind and stop second-guessing everything.

1/21: Crappy SRD

1/22: 4 miles in 44 flat this morning, plus arm weights. No stops and this is my longest run since IMM! Leg felt much better, so I decided to just start slow (12/mile) and just see how I did, since I would have more time for a longer bike ride tomorrow and would rather fit the run in today. Gradually increased speed over a couple of miles as I warmed up and then settled around 10:46/mile...no pain and felt like I could run forever, but I decided to limit myself to only 1 additional mile. Now fingers crossed that I keep feeling good today and tomorrow!

1/23:
OUTSIDE today with DH! Somewhere between 4.5 and 5 miles (Garmin battery was low and quit right after we turned around); most running but a few 2-minute walk breaks towards the end (shin ached on the uphills after 3 miles, so I walked those). About 4 miles was on trails and it was SO great to be out in the woods again, especially doing some off-trail bushwhacking. I probably pushed it a little much doing a longer run like this back-to-back with the 4 yesterday, but we got some kind of crazy news yesterday about one of our kids and we both really needed the mental clarity of a trails run. So I have no regrets. :-) Arm weights to finish at home.

1/18 & 1/19

1/18: 3 in 32:43. Did have to stop twice to attend to kids, so I figured those were my walk breaks.
smile emoticon Walked .5 afterwards to cool down + arm weights.

1/9

Thursday: SRD
Friday: 10 cycling miles in 32:52
Saturday: 3 miles in 40:45 with 21 minutes of running. A little stiffness around the right ankle but no pain in the fracture site; a little shin pain on the left side but it quickly went away. Feeling fabulous cardio-wise; I think all of the cycling I've done has really helped keep up fitness there...now it's just a matter of taking it slow enough and not running as far and fast as I want to!

Cross-training; 10 miles recumbent bike in 32:52

1/4

Starting back on the bandwagon again.

Ran my marathon--slower than the last one (4:2X:XX...can't remember!) but I had to walk quite a bit the last three miles because...my tendonitis was actually a stress fracture!!

So I ran a marathon with a broken leg.

I've had to take 7 weeks off from running to let it heal. It has been horrendously horrible and awful.

Today was my first run back. Did run/walk intervals; started with the first 15 minutes with walk 4 run 1, and then went to walk 3 run 2. Total was 15:19 of running over 3 miles in 46:19. Alternated between 20-minute miles for the walk segments and 12-minute miles for the run segments (did run the last 2:19 at 11-minute miles).

Arm weights to finish.
