dang knee

My knee started hurting after my run Friday and then I heard a sort of "pop" later as I was picking up toys and holy cow it hurt all weekend.  We went hiking Saturday and Sunday and it was not fun.  I started my PT exercises again today and those seemed to help.  Rolled it just before running and at mile 3 (had to stop bc I had a nasty blister that needed a band-aid) and then finished the 4.  Ran slower today hoping that would help too.

New shoes

I bought a pair of Mizuno Wave Inspires this week...I really needed new shoes and I'm hoping these will help with some of the pain I've been having.  I have my gait videotaped and analyzed so fingers crossed that this helps!

Took it a little slower today because I wanted to concentrate on how my feet felt rather than just trying for air!  5 miles on the treadmill without stops--amazing that no kids needed anything!!!!

6/12

Similar run to Monday's--I did have to stop at 2.5 to get the kids a snack.  Finished the 4 miles around 36:22 and then ran a fifth after getting some water and finished around 45:11. Left knee has been bothering me again for the last few weeks; I've been rolling it with a foam roller and did yoga yesterday in hopes that it would help some of the back pain I've been having as well.

5 miles; average pace around 9/mile

6/10

Ran 4 miles without having to stop for anything--hurray!!-- in 36:20.  Stopped, got some bread dough going for dinner, and then thought I might as well try to get another mile in and see if I could go under 45 for the whole 5.  And I did.

5 miles; first 4 9:05/mile, last mile 8:40/mile

6/7

4 miles on Wednesday--I don't remember how fast it was.  Walked a half-mile or so to cool down, as I typically try to do if I have time.

I was hoping to get in 5 miles today but the kids didn't allow that--stopped at 2.8 miles to break up an argument and at 3.4 miles when Luke unexpectedly appeared next to the treadmill (an hour early!).  Finished out the 4 and walked .2 to cool down.  9:27/avg pace

6/3

4 miles on the treadmill today; 9:05/mile.  Getting back there!  I ran pretty ragged intervals as my breathing allowed--started out at 6 mph to warm up for 2 minutes, 6.1 for 3 minutes, 6.5 for 2 minutes, 6.3 for three minutes, 6.5, 6.6, 6.8, 6.5, 6.3, then back up to 6.5 and gradually worked up to 7 and then back down to 6.8 and back up to 7 to end. Mind games to keep myself interested.

6/1

Hmm, it's been awhile since I've updated.  I spent 1.5 hours mowing the lawn on 5/22 and didn't run (so exhausted by the end!) that day; I know I ran on 5/24 and I think it ended up being 5 miles because all three of the boys miraculously slept at the same time.  Can't remember if I ran the next day or not, but I don't think I did.

Ran 4 miles on the roads on 5/27.  I was visiting my parents this past week so I ran to my old high school and back.  On Tuesday I walked a mile with the kids, then mowed 2/3 of my parents' lawn (my dad mowed the other 1/3 while I was putting my kids in bed), then ran half a mile around the block to get the grass off my running shoes.  I was hoping to work out more that night but I had to feed Nathan, then it started thunderstorming, and then Nathan was up like FOREVER and then there was a tornado.  On Wednesday I did 4 miles on the elliptical and that was pretty intense because I wasn't used to it; it took me about 4 minutes longer than my run on Monday.  Nothing Thursday because my car had a flat tire and it took all my workout time to get that fixed.  Drove home on Friday, so no workout in the morning, and then spent another 1.5 hours mowing the lawn, then walked half a mile with the kids.  Saturday (6/1; today) walked through the woods with the kids for an hour and then ran 4 miles this afternoon.  Not very fast because I'm exhausted today and I had a full-blown panic attack earlier.  I think it ended up being about 9:35/mile?  I had to stop at 1.4 miles to feed Nathan.
