2/27

Thursday: 14 miles recumbent bike, 30 minutes yoga
Friday: 4 miles
Saturday: 9 miles (10:53 avg, 10:16 last mile...really tried to keep it slow and manageable and then let myself pick it up last few miles). Slower than normal due to snow and ice on trails.

2/24

5 miles today; pushed the pace a little faster than I have and it still felt pretty easy (10:24/mile). Slowly but surely. Walked half a mile to finish, then spent a ton of time stretching.

2/23

Drove Wednesday, skied Thurs, Fri, Sat, rest on Sunday, 5 yesterday, 4 today. Still abominably tired and not really feeling it running-wise right now.

2/15

8 miles today. Still chafing at the slow pace and reminding myself it's going to take time to build back up safely. Half a mile walking to cool down. 20 minutes yoga after stretching.

2/13

Marathon trials today were amazing!!! Just so insanely inspiring.

4 recovery-paced miles, then one walking to cool down. Arm weights to finish. Right ankle really stiff and uncomfortable but better after tons of post-run stretching.

23 miles for the week; 45 for the month.

2/12

Wednesday: slow recovery 3. Ankle hurt like a beast. Did tons of stretching and yoga afterwards.

Thursday: more yoga. Really sore in weird places, like hip flexors and outside of hips and glutes (only on right side).

Friday: Crappy 7 in 75:50 plus .5 walking. Ran while the kids were playing before bed and stopped at 4.2 (telling them to put on pajamas), 5 (broke up fight about dirty clothes), and 6 (tucked everyone into bed and had prayer), then finished the 7 and cooldown walk. Legs just really heavy and having a hard time breathing during the walk part bc of that weird anxiety-induced thing I get sometimes in my chest. Neil was gone all day and it was just a super-crazy day (flat tire in 5-degree weather, anyone?) and so I'm glad it's over and hopefully he'll be home before 2 am tonight.

2/9

Some speedwork today--ran a mile to warm up, then did 5 sets of the following:

1 minute at 10/mile
1 minute at 9:40/mile
1 minute at 9:13/mile
2 recovery minutes at 10:46/mile

Then ran half a mile at 10/mile to cool down.

Total: 4 miles in 40:42.

Honestly, kind of worried by this run. My right ankle/tendon area was really stiff and sore. I've got to get on top of the tendonitis.

2/8

SRD Sunday; spent a lot of the day in bed blowing my nose and feeling miserable. Still felt pretty wretched when I woke up this morning and thought about taking an USRD, but decided in the end to just give it a mile and see how I felt, knowing that once I had a mile in I would keep going.

5 miles; 27 for first half; 25:11 for second half. Obviously felt much better as I went on! Drank 3 waterbottles over the course of the 5. Total time 52:11. (10:48/mile first half; 10:04 second half) About 3 miles of 5.8/5.9/6 intervals; tlast 4 minutes from 6-6.3

Yoga and arm weights to finish.

2/6

6 miles outside today with Neil. Nausea was really bad and much worse on hills. 10:05 first mile, 10:41 second mile (uphill against wind), 11:55 third mile (trail was such a mudslide that I had to walk a lot), not sure about the next two miles, but last mile was 10:24. Overall a good run but the nausea was just so bad today that I was really having to work hard to not throw up today--had to walk around the grocery store with a plastic bag in one hand and my coat covering my nose.

Cross today.

30 minutes yoga and 16 miles biking (51:35).

2/4 & 2/3

2/3
Sort-of rest day today. I wasn't planning to run, at least? 30 minutes yoga and 30 minutes Zumba (I'm in charge of planning biweekly activities for the 8-11-yr-old girls in our church congregation, so tonight we had a Zumba-and-make-green-smoothies activity. I guess the activities reflect the interests of the leaders). Zumba was really fun and hilarious to watch the girls, who were SUPER intent but not very coordinated, but it did leave my leg pretty achy from the impact on the hard floor. So not as restful as my SRD should have been.

2/4
6 miles in 63:13! Warmed up at 12/mile and ran the last mile at 9:40; felt much stronger than I did earlier this week. This will probably be my LR for the week, but hey, last week my longest was 4 miles, so I'm thrilled!! Yoga and arm weights to finish.

2/2

Groundhog Day!

5 miles in 53:46 (didn't start until about 9:30 and had been up since about 5, so pretty darn tired!), and then walked a mile to cool down. MRI came back clear!!!

2/1

5 today in 52:43. Slowed it down and added another mile--I think I need to build my distance base before working on speed again. Arm weights to finish.
